23kVA on Single Phase, for Properties That Never Got Three Phase
Bringing three-phase power to a rural property can cost more than the generator. For a lot of operations the practical answer is a single-phase machine big enough that the question never comes up.
The Kubota KJ-S230 delivers 23kVA continuous at 240 volts, which is 95.8 amps of single-phase current, from a Kubota V3300 four-cylinder diesel at 1500rpm. That is close to the practical ceiling for single phase and it runs a substantial property or commercial site without shedding a thing.
What 95 Amps of Single Phase Power Runs
At 23kVA you are running an entire operation rather than backing up part of one. A large rural property with bore pumps, cool rooms, a workshop and a residence all live simultaneously. A commercial site carrying refrigeration, lighting and equipment through an extended outage.
The V3300 is a four-cylinder water-cooled diesel rated at 27.6kW continuous and the 68 litre tank gives 8.8 hours at full load. This is a machine designed to hold that output for a full working day, not to peak and recover.
Built for Continuous Duty
At 630 kilograms the KJ-S230 is a fixed installation. The cabinet is weatherproof, the control panel door locks and every service point is reachable from outside without dismantling anything.
The Deep Sea DSE4520 digital control panel monitors engine and alternator, counts running hours for service scheduling and accepts a two-wire remote start for automatic changeover when the mains drop.
The alternator is revolving field, self-excited and brushless with Class H insulation, holding 3.5 percent voltage regulation from no load to full load. No brushes to wear and stable output for motors and electronics together.
Safety and Protection as Standard
The KJ series carries a comprehensive shutdown system as standard. The engine stops on abnormal oil pressure or water temperature, on low fuel, on alternator charge failure and on over or under voltage, frequency, current or power.
It also shuts down if the engine room door is opened or the load centre cover is removed while running. There is an emergency stop button on the outside of the cabinet.

Is the KJ-S230 the Right Size for You?
At 23kVA the KJ-S230 is near the practical ceiling for single-phase generation. It suits a large rural property running pumps, cool rooms and a workshop together, a commercial site with substantial refrigeration or any operation where bringing in three phase is not worth the cost.
