Twenty kilovolt-amps of three-phase power is a commercial decision, not a household one. It is the size that carries a working site, a small production operation or a building's essential services through an outage without anything being staged or shed.
The Kubota SQ3200B delivers exactly that at 415 volts, 27.8 amps per phase, from a Kubota V2203-EBG four-cylinder diesel at 1500rpm. It carries 100 litres of diesel in a bunded base tank for twenty-five hours of continuous running, at 63 decibels measured seven metres away.
What 20kVA of Three Phase Power Carries
At 20kVA you are running an operation rather than backing up part of one. Three-phase compressors, chillers and pump sets with enough headroom for their starting surge, plus 240 volt single-phase circuits for lighting, office equipment and hand tools off the same machine.
The endurance is what makes it practical. Twenty-five hours unattended covers an overnight outage, a full working day on a remote site or a stretch of poor weather on a hybrid solar installation. The bunded tank means a fuel leak is contained rather than becoming a site incident.
Built Quiet and Built Compliant
The SQ Series 2 achieves 63 decibels through an oversized muffler, a noise-absorbing duct in the enclosure and three air intakes that let the machine breathe without releasing the sound. That is quiet enough for sites with neighbours.
The digital control panel sits behind a locking door, fully readable without opening it, with the emergency stop mounted outside. Engine oil, coolant, fuel filter, water reserve tank, battery and air cleaner are grouped on one side.
At 915 kilograms it is a fixed installation with forklift slots both sides and reinforced skid rails. Voltage regulation holds to 1.5 percent from no load to full load with total harmonic distortion under 5 percent, which matters when sensitive equipment shares the circuit with motors.
Safety and Protection as Standard
The SQ Series 2 is factory tested to AS33017 and compliant with the AS3000 wiring standard, with RCD protection on each single-phase outlet and RCBO protection on the receptacles.
A limit switch shuts the engine down if a door is opened while it is running. The shutdown system also covers oil pressure, water temperature, low fuel, alternator charge failure and over or under voltage, frequency, current and power. A battery isolator is fitted as standard.

Is the SQ3200B the Right Size for You?
Sizing a three phase generator comes down to starting current rather than running load. A motor draws several times its rated current at the moment it starts and that surge decides the machine.
