A 10kva Diesel Generator That Runs a Full Day Without Refuelling
Most generators are sized by output alone and then someone has to go out and refuel them halfway through the night. The SQ Series 2 was designed around a different question: how long can it run before anyone has to touch it?
The Kubota SQ1120B answers with twenty-four hours. It produces 11.2kVA of single-phase power at 240 volts, 46.7 amps and carries 72 litres of diesel in a bunded base tank. At 61 decibels measured seven metres away it is the quietest machine in this entire range.
Why 24 Hour Run Time Changes How You Use It
A generator that runs a full day unattended is a different tool from one that needs checking every eight hours. It covers an overnight outage without anyone getting up. It runs a remote site through a full working day. It backs up a solar system through a run of bad weather without daily intervention.
The fuel tank is bottom-mounted and bunded to 110 percent, which means any spill is contained inside the enclosure rather than on the ground. On a commercial site or a rural property that is often the difference between a compliant installation and a problem.
Built Quiet and Built to Stay Put
Kubota lowered the noise on the SQ Series 2 with an oversized muffler, a noise-absorbing duct in the enclosure and three air intake holes that let the machine breathe without letting the sound out. The result is 61 decibels under full load.
The control panel sits behind a locking door so you can read every function without opening it and the emergency stop is mounted on the outside where it can be reached in a hurry. All engine oil and coolant service points sit on one side.
At 780 kilograms it is a fixed installation, with forklift slots on each side and increased skid rail thickness for transport. The digital control panel is a Deep Sea DSE4520 with two-wire remote start.
Safety and Protection as Standard
The SQ Series 2 is factory tested to AS33017 and compliant with the AS3000 wiring standard, with an RCD on each single-phase outlet and RCBO protection on the receptacles.
A limit switch shuts the engine down if the door is opened while it is running. The shutdown system also covers abnormal oil pressure, water temperature, low fuel, alternator charge failure and voltage or frequency drift. A battery isolator is fitted as standard.

Is the SQ1120B the Right Size for You?
At 11.2kVA single phase the SQ1120B suits a rural property running pumps and refrigeration, a commercial site needing genuinely unattended backup, a telecommunications or monitoring installation or any application where the bunded tank and 24 hour run time matter more than raw output.
If you want the same capacity in a smaller and cheaper cabinet, the KJ-S130 gives 12.5kVA without the bunded tank or the 24 hour run time. If you need more power, the SQ1150B steps up to 15kVA on single phase or the SQ3 range covers 14kVA to 30kVA on three phase.
